Cycling and walking: alternative ways of getting round Merton

Merton’s cycle ‘super highway’ has seen a “surge in use” according to the Wimbledon Guardian:

“Use of the routes, which run from Merton to the City via Tooting, Balham and Clapham, and Barking to Tower Gateway, have risen by 70 per cent – with increases of 100 per cent or more seen on some sections during peak hours.”

For more details on Merton’s cycle ‘super highway’, see the page on the Council’s website and at the local news website, Merton Matters, who reviewed the new route in June.

And 2010 wasn’t just the year for innovation in cycle routes, late 2010 also saw the publication of the London Assembly’s Walking Report. The report considers the ways in which walking in London might be improved. Chair of the Transport Committee, and Lib Dem London Assembly Member, Caroline Pidgeon has the full story.
