South West Trains back down on Oyster

THE ONLY train company in London that refused to allow passengers to top up their Oyster cards has changed its policy after pressure from Lib Dems on the London Assembly.

The move will cover all of its stations in Merton and the surrounding area, and came after Caroline Pidgeon, leader of the Liberal Democrats on the London Assembly, exposed the fact that it was the only train company in the capital refusing to sell Oyster products.

Commenting on the decision, Caroline Pidgeon said: “I very much welcome South West Trains’ change of heart, catching up with all the other train companies. At last SWT passengers will be able to top up their Oyster cards at all stations in the London area they cover. It is only a shame that SWT has been so behind in introducing this service.”
