Can councils and Network Rail work together?

News reaches us at the One track at a time blog of a new agreement between Councils and Network Rail about maintenance of railway land.

We’re told:

“London Councils’ Transport and Environment Committee . . .  has agreed a ‘Memorandum of Understanding’ (MoU) setting out how boroughs and Network Rail can better work together in managing and maintaining areas of land adjacent to railways. The MoU is a voluntary agreement and Network Rail plans to hold a series of sub-regional meetings across London to introduce the MoU and the team at Network Rail.”

We’ll see if this new27 page agreement sees any improvement in keeping railway land tidy.
