Wimbledon Station forecourt redevelopment

Residents were told about plans to redesign the station forecourt and access roads in time for the 2012 Olympics at a Wimbledon Community Forum meeting on 7 July.

You can find out more by downloading the Council’s powerpoint presentation here. There were only just over thirty people at the Community Forum meeting, and a good number of those were councillors and council officers. When I asked about the consultation process, the reply from the Council was rather vague, and looking at the presentation they plan to consult at the end of the year. We’ll be pushing them to engage with people properly over this.

Although there isn’t a huge amount of detail available yet, the overall idea is to “reduce clutter”. We will be keen to see that recycling facilities (that we spent over 2 years fighting for), as well as secure places to leave bikes, are maintained and improved.

Email us at mertonlibdems@googlemail.com to let us know what you think about the plans, or if you have any good ideas.
